Hi there!
Do you love inexpensive family activities? And free chocolate samples?
It’s Cathy from My Book a Day. I’m always looking for things near me that are fun and engaging for our 3 kids, ages 18, 13, and 5. There are some fun things around in our area, Davis County, Utah. One of those is the Mrs. Cavanaugh’s Chocolate Factory.
We’ve been to the factory several times. Not only can you buy Mrs. Cavanaugh’s yummy chocolates and ice cream there, but you can also take the factory tour, and that’s our favorite thing.
Mrs. Cavanaugh’s factory tour requires reservations. They charge $1 per person, and that dollar is well spent. I love that you not only hear the history of chocolate making and see a video on the process, but you also get samples of several kinds of chocolate and even ice cream at the end.
In our experience, the tour guides are knowledgeable and they’re great with kids They have an area in their factory filled with Curious George animals that you can find. My little guy loves this part, since Curious George is his favorite. There’s a book about Curious George visiting a chocolate factory and they sell that in their shop as well. They also have a train room and a chocolate wall where you can take your picture.
I recommend the chocolate tour for kids of all ages. We stopped by the other day, and our 5 year-old was begging to take the tour again. Our family took it twice last summer. If you’re near North Salt Lake, Utah, definitely take the time to visit this spot and have some yummy chocolate. This factory tour would be perfect for a school break or staycation!
Mrs. Cavanaugh’s tours are available Monday through Friday from 10 am to 3 pm. The tours last about 45 minutes. Don’t forget to call (801) 677-8888 to make your appointment to take the tour!
