Hey there… Are you planning a Disney Cruise? Lucky you!
It's Kimberly at Get Away Today. We book family cruises for the best prices on all the major cruise lines, and you can have a great time on any of them. However, there is something really special about a Disney Cruise.
In this post, I'm sharing what makes a Disney cruise unique. It’s an experience unlike any other, with loads of magic and unforgettable memory-making opportunities.
If you’ve ever been to Disneyland or Disney World, then you know they take magic seriously. Disney is the best at creating venues that transport you to worlds of make-believe. On a Disney cruise, you’re not only taken to the land of make-believe but to other destinations as well. Disney Cruise Line has itineraries that include Alaska, the Caribbean, New England, Europe and more.
Here's what you can expect on a Disney cruise.
Onboard Magic
Imagine all the joy and wonder you experience at Disneyland… Now imagine all of that on a cruise ship, offering you an immersive experience for three days to two weeks. That’s a Disney cruise!
The four ships in the Disney Cruise Line are jam-packed with themed decor, Disney Characters, gourmet dining, onboard entertainment and so much more.
Sister ships Disney Wonder and Disney Magic both feature a Bippidi Boppidi Boutique so young guests can undergo princess transformations onboard. Depending on the itinerary you choose, you can enjoy fireworks at sea, or catch a 3D showing of a Disney movie.
Themed days at sea may include Marvel Days, Pirate Night, Thanksgiving celebrations, Halloween on the High Seas and Very Merrytime. Both Disney Wonder and Disney Magic boast thrilling water slides and pools for guests of all ages to enjoy time in the water while sailing on the water.
Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream are the other pair of sister ships in the Disney Cruise Line, and they’re both known for Magical Portholes. Interior state rooms on board have portholes that show scenes of the ocean with visits from Disney Characters. Enjoy entertainment in the form of Broadway-caliber shows, Character meet-n-greets and more. Like the Wonder and Magic, Fantasy and Dream also offer onboard pools and themed days at sea such as Star Wars days and holidays.
All four ships in the Disney Cruise Line offer opportunities to meet some of your favorite Characters onboard and children are encouraged to dress up as they would at Disneyland. Costumes can make Marvel Days, Star Wars Days, Pirate Nights or Halloween on the High Seas even more fun.

Dining
A number of fine dining options are included with your Disney Cruise Line itinerary. Complimentary soft drinks and room service really set Disney cruises apart. You can even enjoy free drinks on Disney’s private island if your itinerary includes the port at Castaway Cay.
Your dinner time will be assigned to you, and you will get to rotate to a different dining room each night. You’ll always have the same servers who can get to know you while you cruise. You also have the option to have young guests be served first at dinner, and then checked into their kids’ clubs while the adults continue to dine.
Disney Cruise Line accommodates gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian and other dietary needs.

For scenic cruises, think Alaska, New England or Canada. You can choose from glacier tours, whale watching and lumberjack shows in Alaska. Yes, lumberjack shows! These events give you a look at traditional Alaska culture.
Other destinations include Bermuda, the Pacific Coast, Hawaii, the Mediterranean and the Panama Canal.
Port excursions usually cost extra, but they add so much to your cruise and the memories are priceless!

Castaway Cay
Castaway Cay is Disney Cruise Lines’ private island in the Bahamas. It is included in many of Disney's Caribbean itineraries.
This beachy paradise offers low-cost bike rentals, water excursions and other adventures such as kayaking, parasailing and stingray socials. Depending on the time of year, you can also participate in a 5K on Castaway Cay. These usually cost extra. Just lay on the beach all day, and play in the sand and surf if you want to keep it simple.
