Grace Bay in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, was ranked the 2nd best beach in the world by TripAdvisor in 2015. My husband and I just returned from five days in the lovely Atlantic Ocean Beach Villas located right on Grace Bay, and these affordable villas would be an excellent choice for a family vacation. We hoped to stay on the beach in Grace Bay, but found most hotel rooms at the resorts were too expensive for our budget. When we found Atlantic Ocean Beach Villas, we knew we had found the best of both worlds—prime beachfront location with a price tag a family could afford. We traveled with friends and shared the Ocean’s Edge Villa, which accommodates up to 8 people.

The Atlantic Ocean Beach Villas are a group of 8 well-maintained villas located near Turtle Cove Marina. The villas vary in size and price, so it would be easy to find one that fits your needs. Here are 11 reasons you should stay at the Atlantic Ocean Beach Villas.Atlantic Ocean Beach Villas |

1. Amazing location on Grace Bay

Our villa was a mere 25 feet from the Atlantic Ocean. All guests staying at the Atlantic Ocean Beach Villas have access to the beach, which has beach loungers and umbrellas for the use of guests. The first thing we did when we arrived was sink our toes into the powdery white sand.  You can walk or jog for miles along this beach.

2. Excellent Snorkeling

Smith’s reef is the best place to snorkel in Providenciales, and we found the best corals and fish just a few hundred feet in front of our house. We spent several hours snorkeling right in front of the Atlantic Ocean Beach Villas and saw hundreds of tropical fish, a hawksbill turtle, two eagle rays, and a big, beautiful stingray. If your family wants an active vacation, the snorkeling here cannot be beat. It was windy the entire week we were here, and one day the waves were strong enough that I wouldn’t have let my children snorkel, but the rest of the time even with the wind we felt safe and comfortable in the water. Check out our Definitive Guide for Snorkeling at Smith’s Reef.

3. Wonderful Kitchen

I loved to eat out on vacation, but I also love the option of a quick meal at home. Our kitchen at the Atlantic Ocean Beach Villas had everything we needed to cook at home—coffee maker, toaster, microwave, oven, blender, can opener, pots and pans, etc. We ate breakfast at home each morning, and one evening we used the Weber gas grill to grill steaks and asparagus. There is an IGA grocery store very close where we were able to pick up groceries and bottled water (you will want to drink bottled water in Turks and Caicos).Atlantic Ocean Beach Villas |

4. Rental Car Option

Atlantic Ocean Beach Villas rents 7-passenger mini vans onsite. We choose to rent a van, and the process could not have been easier. They arranged for a taxi to pick us up at the airport and drop us at the villa, and then they delivered a van to us. No extra paperwork, and anyone staying at the home could drive it. They offer complimentary child seats if needed. We loved having a car on the island, and found it easy to navigate even when driving on the British side of the road.Atlantic Ocean Beach Villas |

5. Walking Distance to Great Restaurants

There are several moderately priced restaurants in Turtle Cove Marina, which is just a five-minute walk from the Atlantic Ocean Beach Villas. We enjoyed Sharkbites (saw a 7-foot shark in the marina while we ate!), Tiki Hut, and Green Bean Restaurant.  It was a nice perk to have good food so accessible, and the owner gave us wonderful recommendations on restaurants to try.

6. Snorkel Gear

Our house came with four sets of snorkel gear. Some of the sets where child-sized, and some were better for adults. Most were in good shape, but we did have one snorkel that didn’t work. If you are particular about sizes, you might want to consider bringing some of your own, but if you are just a recreational snorkeler, the sets at the house will work fine.

7. Free Bikes for Guests

Beach cruiser bikes are provided for guests to enjoy.  We rode bikes to the marina for lunch one day and loved the beach cruisers. There were plenty of kid-sized bikes available and I saw at least one bike with a baby seat.Atlantic Ocean Beach Villas |

8. Swimming Pool

The pool is small but clean and looks like a lap pool.  I didn’t use it because I love the ocean, but if you want a freshwater pool, the pool is lovely.Atlantic Ocean Beach Villas |

9. Local cell phone

Atlantic Ocean Beach Villas provided us with a local cell phone for our use while on the island.  This phone was so helpful for making dinner reservations or connecting with our scuba dive operator.  We also had phone numbers for the owners and cleaning staff in case we needed them for any reason.

10. Attention to Detail

The attention to detail at Atlantic Ocean Beach Villas makes them exceptional. Here are a few details we loved:

  • Clothes line outside each villa to hang wet swimming suits
  • Daily maid service
  • Plenty of tables, chairs and outdoor seating
  • Direct TV and a DVD player in our villa
  • Beach toys—kayaks, noodles, inflatables
  • Bocce ball
  • Outdoor shower to rinse salt and sand off
  • Ceiling fans and individual air conditioning units in each room
  • Safe for valuables
  • Toiletries—shampoo, conditioner, lotion, cotton balls, q-tips, and a good blow dryer in each bathroomAtlantic Ocean Beach Villas |

11. Internet

Free Wifi is included with your rental.  However, our experience was that the internet is spotty on the island in general.  I had no problem using apps that I already had installed on my smartphone, but getting online on my laptop was slow or impossible at times.

I loved our stay at the Atlantic Ocean Beach Villas and would happily return with my family or recommend these villas to anyone.  The price for oceanfront property was the best I could find on Turks and Caicos, and since we love to snorkel and relax on the beach, this was the perfect location for us.

Disclosure: I received a small discount on my stay at the Atlantic Ocean Beach Villas for the purpose of reviewing it for Tips for Family Trips.  All opinions are my own.
