Hello!
Looking for a great hotel in Victoria, British Columbia?
After a whirlwind trip through the beautiful San Juan Islands, we were excited to land at Parkside Hotel and Spa in Victoria, British Columbia for three nights. We had slept in a different place nearly every night for the previous week – usually in the same room. We needed a little space, and a slower pace.
That's what we found at the Parkside Hotel. When we saw our spacious upscale suite, the huge pool and the walkable location, we knew that we had reached the “vacation” part of our summer vacation. It was a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the beautiful city of Victoria, British Columbia.
Parkside Victoria offers many family-friendly amenities in downtown Victoria. Here's what you can expect for a family vacation or romantic getaway.
All Suite Hotel
Parkside Victoria is an all-suite hotel, meaning that every room has separate living and bedroom areas and every room has kitchen facilities. Having spent most of the previous six days in the same room or car, we were ready for this kind of space.
We had one bedroom with a king size bed, one bathroom and two sitting rooms with pull out beds and flat screen televisions. Everything was new, comfortable and stylish. Our patio overlooked Beacon Hill Park across the street. The windows were open, letting in a comfortable summer breeze.
The kitchenette had granite counter tops and full-size stainless steel appliances. We didn't do any real cooking, but did store breakfast, picnic supplies and snacks in the room. There is a supermarket a few blocks away. We had fun sampling some of the Canadian products and brands that we don't have at home.
I was delighted to find a small washer/dryer combo machine in one of the kitchen cabinets.
Huge Indoor Pool
I've never seen an indoor hotel pool this large. The pool at the Parkside Hotel is a full 25 meters long – intended more for fitness enthusiasts than for splashing kids. Nevertheless, there was plenty of space for my splashing kids and the occasional lap swimmer in the evenings.
There is also a hot tub, large fitness room, locker room and full service spa.
Free Family Movies
Parkside Victoria has a private movie theater. Two free movies were shown each night of our stay – the earlier movie was especially for families. We expected to see a family movie during our stay, but found ourselves exploring the city or playing in the pool in the evenings instead.
Great Location
Parkside Hotel and Spa is located in downtown Victoria within walking distance of the waterfront. Here are some of the fun activities nearby.
- Beacon Hill Park
- Royal BC Museum
- Parliament Buildings
- Fisherman's Wharf
It was convenient to walk nearly everywhere we wanted to go in downtown Victoria. The June weather was perfect and we enjoyed exploring the area at a leisurely pace. Parkside Hotel and Spa was an excellent base for visiting Victoria and we would love to return.

Hi! My nephew is graduating from high school next year. His grandmother (my sister) & I are thinking about taking him on a “patriotic trip.”. Any suggestions? Thank you.
Allison
You bet! We’ve got a post with links to some of our favorite patriotic destinations: http://tipsforfamilytrips.com/southdakota/patriotic-places/. You may also be interested in our recommendations for visiting Washington D.C. We don’t have any Boston posts yet, but we have both been there and it is a great city.
