The Deer Valley Seafood Buffet in Park City, Utah has been on my husband’s wish list for years. This year, we finally made a reservation for us and our children (ages 8 and 11) to celebrate his January birthday. Was it all he hoped and dreamed it would be? Yes it was.
The Zagat Restaurant Guide lists the Deer Valley Seafood Buffet as one of “America’s Top Restaurants.” It’s a great choice either for the end of a ski day or as a stand-alone experience.
But should you bring your kids?
It depends. We took our children and had a wonderful time! They loved the Deer Valley Seafood Buffet and I’m pretty sure that we have now spoiled them for all other buffets. They are still talking about how great it was. More about that later…
The seafood buffet would have made an impressive and memorable date night too. The restaurant is a grown-up kind of place with soft lighting, live classical music, a good wine list and an exciting, ever-changing menu for sophisticated palates.
The Deer Valley Seafood Buffet menu changes every week. You’ll always be able to find crab legs, shrimp, oysters on the half shell, prime rib and other favorites on the menu, but most of the appetizers, soups, salads, entrees and desserts are different every week.
Nearly everything is served in sample portions on small plates, making it easy to try a little of everything without filling up too quickly. Servers on the buffet are agreeable about adjusting portions up or down upon request.

The Seafood Buffet is obviously not ideal for vegetarians or vegans, but there is a selection of menu items for those who fall into this category. Menu items that are vegetarian or vegan are noted on the buffet. There is also a variety of options for meat eaters who don’t care for seafood.
