Winter is almost here! Ski season will start soon, as my kids remind me with giddy anticipation. They both tried skiing for the first time last year, and after a single lesson, they were hooked. After three ski days they're already better than me, but let's be honest – it was a low bar.
My daughter was in fifth grade last year, and the Ski Utah Fifth Grade Passport allowed her to get into every resort in Utah three times for practically nothing. I paid $45 early in the season, sent in the online application with a photo, and we received the passport in the mail within a week or two.
The Ski Utah Fifth Grade Passport allowed her to visit all 14 Utah resorts up to three times each for no additional cost. Furthermore, it was full of coupons for rentals, gear and lessons. We skied Snowbird, Snowbasin, and Park City Mountain Resort together last winter. All I had to do was present her passport at the ticket window. Some resorts have blackout days during the holiday season, but most have no blackout days at all.
Ready to pull the trigger? Here are some other helpful tips for getting your child a ski passport.
You do not need to live in Utah
Are you considering a winter trip to Utah? The Utah Fifth Grade Passport pays for itself in a single day. It is open to any fifth grader anywhere. Homeschooled children are also eligible. Find more information about the Ski Utah Fifth Grade Passport at www.skiutah.com/passes/passports.

There is also a Sixth Grade Passport
Sixth graders can visit each resort once for free with the Ski Utah Sixth Grade Passport. The price and process for the Ski Utah Sixth Grade Passport is the same. Learn more about the Ski Utah Sixth Grade Passport at www.skiutah.com/passes/passports.
The price goes up after January 31
If you haven't bought your child's passport by January 31, you've missed half the season!
Consider a Yeti Pass for yourself
If you want to explore as many of Utah's resorts as you can with your child, check out the Ski Utah Yeti Pass. For $649, you can ski once at every resort in the state. If you ski all 14 resorts (10 of them are located within an hour of Salt Lake City), you'll pay $46 per day. If you're serious about a Yeti Pass, get it early. They had sold out by the time I bought my daughter's passport last year.

I am not one for cold weather but I do remember skiing as a kid and loving it! Looks like you are setting up for a great season!

These passes sound like a great idea. I really loved reading this post as it just seemed like a world away from our life here in London – it’s very mild here at the moment. I can’t imagine it snowing…Different world across the ocean 🙂

These passes are so great to help encourage families to hit the slopes, while saving a bit of money at the same time. Canadian Ski Mountains have a similar program for 4th and 5th graders – it was gold when our kids were wee!
