It’s Kimberly with Get Away Today, here to talk about all things Disneyland. Disneyland Resort will be bigger and better than ever in 2018 and I’m so excited! In addition to the classic magic we know and love, Disneyland will debut all-new entertainment, attractions and so much more.
I’ve created a 2018 guide to Disneyland to help you plan around this year’s special events.
2018 Guide to Disneyland: SPRING
The first few months of the year are sometimes considered an “off-peak” season at the Disneyland Resort, but guests can plan for some exciting new events in Spring 2018.
Disneyland After Dark – Disneyland will host its very first Disneyland After Dark Event on January 18. Guests can travel back in time at this separately ticketed event. Expect to rock out to live music from the 1950’s and 60’s, experience vintage Disneyland décor and catch an exclusive showing of the original “Fantasy in The Sky” firework show. Disney has suggested that more After Dark Events may pop up on the calendar.
Lunar New Year Celebration – Lunar New Year Celebration is another new event at Disneyland. Indulge in culturally inspired food, music and brand-new entertainment from January 26 – February 18. Watch for favorite characters – like Mulan and Mushu—dressed in traditional attire to welcome in the New Year.
Food and Wine Festival – This popular event will return to California Adventure in the Spring 2018. Experience a variety of food and beverage options inspired by the Southern California lifestyle. The festivities official kick-off on March 2 and will continue through April 12. It promises to be bigger than ever before. Foodies are sure to love this unique experience.
Pixar Fest – Pixar Fest will premiere on April 13. Not to be confused with the new Pixar Pier, this celebration will be found in both parks.
Paint The Night Parade will return to Disney California Adventure Park. Expect new Disney·Pixar themed décor, food and souvenirs. Plus, catch all-new fireworks show “Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” and an updated Pixar Play Parade with new floats in Disneyland.
No end date has been announced for Pixar Fest, but I’m guessing that it will continue through summer until Halloween Time begins.
2018 Guide to Disneyland: SUMMER
Summer 2018 will be one of the most anticipated summers for Disneyland in recent memory. Pixar Pier and Paradise Park will open in Disney’s California Adventure Park.
The Incredicoaster will be the biggest attraction at Pixar Pier. It is the updated version of the old California Screamin’ coaster. You’ll see your favorite Disney Pixar stories come to life within new lands and neighborhoods. New attractions, dining and shopping experiences are coming as well.
No official opening dates have been announced, but new attractions have been launched on Memorial Weekend (end of May) in recent years. I’ll keep you posted!
Summer time at Disneyland also brings extended park hours and more nighttime shows. Plan for fireworks, and shows like Fantasmic! and World of Color each night.
2018 Guide to Disneyland: FALL
Halloween Time at Disneyland is so fun and it will return in 2018. From mid-September to the end of October, catch Disneyland at its spookiest during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort.
Creepy ride-overlays, delicious treats and boo-tiful décor… it’ll scare you how much fun you’ll have. I expect that Disneyland’s classic attractions like Haunted Mansion Holiday and Space Mountain: Ghost Galaxy will return. After the incredibly popular 2017 debut of Halloween Time in Cars Land, I’m fairly certain that Radiator Springs will once again transform into Radiator Screams.
Mickey’s Halloween Party will likely be held on select nights during Halloween Time. It is a private ticketed event. Mickey’s Halloween Party has always been held in Disneyland with Disney California Adventure Park staying open later for park guests who don’t have a party ticket. It’s been rumored that the party may move to California Adventure Park for 2018. Either way, we are sure that Halloween Time and Mickey’s Halloween Party are both sure to be wildly popular.
2018 Guide to Disneyland: WINTER
The entire Disneyland Resort will celebrate Holidays at the Disneyland Resort from mid-November through early January. Catch joyful entertainment, delectable food items and festive décor that celebrates the most wonderful time of the year.
Christmas classics like “it’s a small world” Holiday, A Christmas Fantasy Parade and Believe… in Holiday Magic fireworks will likely return. New favorites like Festival of Holidays and World of Color – Season of Light are also expected to make a comeback in 2018.
