A few summers ago, our family visited the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport, Oregon as part of a vacation in the Pacific Northwest – one of our favorite parts of the United States. My camera and I are not professionals, but I have always liked this photo of the jellyfish exhibit near the entrance of the aquarium.

Hi there! I am the founder of Tips for Family Trips. I am a married mom of two children, ages 10 and 12, living near Salt Lake City, Utah. We took our first child on a two-week road trip when she was four weeks old and we have been traveling as a family ever since. We love to get out of the house to see and do fun things, both far away and in our own neighborhood.

  1. Nice shot! I’ve taken a very similar photo of the same type of jellies at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The colors of the animals go perfectly with the blue water.

  2. Well I like it too! I could watch the jellyfish at aquariums for hours. They’re absolutely mesmerizing.

  3. Jellyfish are the hardest thing to photograph! I’ve tried and tried and none of my shots ever turn out right. Of course, maybe if I had a better camera…or was a better photographer…:) Great picture!

  4. Lovely shot! I love jellyfish displays…always much happier being enchanted by them behind glass than dealing with them in the ocean…their stings aren’t nearly as enjoyable!

  5. Thanks all! I too love the bright contrasting colors of the jellies and the water. It has been nice to remember a fun family outing in a beautiful place. Thanks for sharing it with me!
