Favorite Photo: Roseau, Dominica

This photo of Roseau, Dominica was taken at the end of the day from the deck of our cruise ship. Much of the day had been rainy and cloudy and we had been disappointed by a whale watching tour where no whales, or any other sea life, were seen. After that, we had no time to explore the wild and abundant natural beauty of Dominica.

It wasn’t the day we hoped for, but the sun came out at the end, illuminating the brightly painted buildings of Roseau and creating the rainbow – a symbol of hope. I hope we go back to Dominica for a do-over someday. How could we not want to return to a place this beautiful?

Hi there! I am the founder of Tips for Family Trips. I am a married mom of two children, ages 10 and 12, living near Salt Lake City, Utah. We took our first child on a two-week road trip when she was four weeks old and we have been traveling as a family ever since. We love to get out of the house to see and do fun things, both far away and in our own neighborhood.

  5. It’s too bad that you missed out on whales and sea life due to the weather. I love the rainbow and I’m glad you at least saw some beauty before you departed.

  6. Thanks all! Any day on an island in the Caribbean is better than a regular day at home, so it was not a complete loss. There is just so much potential here and I look forward to a return. I might even go whale watching again. I’m on a quest now!
