Elbow Beach, Bermuda was our resort of choice on a recent romantic getaway I took with my husband.  We only had a few days, and the short, direct flight to Bermuda from Washington D.C., along with Bermuda’s pink sand beaches and lush vegetation, made it the perfect place to unwind.

Bermuda is an excellent vacation destination for couples or families.  We were so impressed with the friendly Bermudians and how safe we felt everywhere we went.  I would love to return with my five children.

Elbow Beach, Bermuda was a lovely romantic getaway, but its beautiful beach and spacious rooms would make it an amazing family destination as well.  Here are 7 reasons we loved Elbow Beach, Bermuda.Elbow Beach

1.  Elbow Beach

The resort is located on one of the most beautiful beaches in Bermuda.  While there is a section of Elbow Beach that is public, the beach near the resort is for the exclusive use of Elbow Beach resort guests.

Pink sand, clear turquoise water I could see my toenail polish in, and plenty of umbrellas and lounge chairs made this beach the best I’ve ever stayed on.  Our flight arrived early and we checked in at the hotel around 2:00 p.m.  Our room wasn’t quite ready, so we went down to the beach and were greeted by staff who quickly set up lounge chairs with soft fabric chair covers and towels so we could relax while they finished preparing our room.  The soft sand on our toes and napping to the sound of the waves was the perfect way to kick off our vacation.

We loved snorkeling at Elbow Beach and found many varieties of fish on the coral reefs just off shore.  There is a wreck about 100 yards offshore that you could kayak to and see while snorkeling.  The resort loans snorkel equipment to its guests.

2.  Luxury Accomodations

The grounds at the Elbow Beach resort were stunning.  We stayed in a junior suite with a garden view and loved our view of the lush greenery with the ocean peeking through the trees.  We ate breakfast each morning on our private lanai and soaked in the views.

Our suite was spacious, clean, and inviting.  We had a king-sized bed and a sofa that converted into a twin bed.  Robes, bath salts, and a loofah were the perfect way to clean up after a day at the beach.  The nightly turn-down service was a nice added touch.Elbow Beach

The main building at Elbow Beach, Bermuda is not in use. Guests stay in cottages that each house a few guest rooms and are named after local flowers.  Our cottage was called Jasmine.

3.  Uncrowded Resort

One of our favorite surprises about Elbow Beach, Bermuda was the lack of crowds, even in high season.  The resort has only 98 guest rooms and suites spread over 50 acres, so we never competed for space.

There was plenty of room on the beach for everyone.  We saw the beaches of a few other luxury resorts in Bermuda and they were much more crowded, which made us appreciate Elbow Beach even more.

Tennis courts were always available, and the large, temperature-controlled pool was nearly empty most of the time.

4.  On-site Amenities

You could find everything you need for a perfect vacation without ever leaving Elbow Beach, Bermuda.  There is something for everyone: tennis courts, billiards and a game room, fitness center, world-class spa, croquet, and a children’s club and activity center.

We particularly appreciated the in-room wifi, which made it easy for us to connect with our children or check email.

We were also grateful for the convenience of the on-site scooter rental at Elbow Beach Cycles.  We rented a scooter to tour the island, which was a great way to get around, and it was so easy to pick up and return right from the hotel.

One morning, we took advantage of the 6:30 a.m. yoga class on the ocean deck.  We happened to be the only participants and enjoyed a customized yoga class to start our morning.

5.  Fabulous Restaurants

There are four on-site restaurants, which are all excellent.  My favorite meal was sushi and tapas at Sea Breeze.  The open-air lounge was so comfortable for dining, and the ocean views were amazing.  I loved every bite of everything we ordered, especially the fun virgin Strawberry Coco Breeze.

On Friday night there is live music and many people from all over the island come to enjoy a festive evening.

6.  Excellent Location

Elbow Beach, Bermuda’s central location on the island made it convenient to everything.  Hamilton is just a 10 minutes away.  The taxi to and from the airport was easy, and it was also easy to get to the other side of the island to visit Royal Naval Dockyards.  Because of our central location, we were able to easily explore the whole island.

There is a bus stop right in front on the resort, making transportation convenient for those who do not want to drive a scooter.

There is a grocery store just a few minutes walk from the resort.  When I travel, I always prefer to have quick breakfast foods and snacks in my room.  We also found an affordable diner, the Paraquet, right next door to the resort.

7.  Attentive Staff

The staff at Elbow Beach, Bermuda was exceptional.  From the rum punch offered to us as we arrived, the complimentary water and sodas in our room, and our special request for an in-room fridge, I felt like all our needs were taken care of.  My husband has a special love for Bermuda’s ginger beer, and when he mentioned this to the housekeeping staff, they filled our fridge with ginger beer for him.

I hope to return to Elbow Beach, Bermuda someday.  I would happily take my family to this resort.  I would love to let my children learn to snorkel in the clear, warm waters and relax at this welcoming resort.
